Did you ever have a brother that picked on you all the time while growing up? Well, I did. Although, my brother determined he had the right to pick on me, he would never have allowed anyone else to do so. I guess that’s what big brothers are for- to drive you crazy and look out for you at the same time.

I have learned how important it is to not take your brother for granted. He may not always be there.

That’s what happened in my case. In September 2006, at the young age of 39, God decided he needed my brother Dennis for a much bigger purpose and took him from this earth.

My brother left behind his wife, Christa, his then, thirteen year old son, Zachary, and many family and friends who loved him. Although everyone misses his giant smile, positive attitude, and giving heart, I am happy knowing he is spending his time spinning tales of his hunting and fishing exploits with the angels. I know he has a lot of them! I’m sure he can keep them entertained until the rest of us get there.

The bonds forged in childhood last a lifetime. They survive through all life’s struggles and beyond.

My brother was excited about my plans to run for office. Although he is gone, I still wish to share the adventure with him. Here’s to “Denny”…
